Sunday, April 15, 2012- Fremont Road Town Forest Trail Cleanup
The Sandown Conservation Commission (SCC) is looking for individuals or groups to assist them with trail maintenance efforts in the Fremont Road Town Forest on Sunday, April 15, 2012 from 10:00am-12noon. Meet at the kiosk in the town forest parking lot, off Fremont Road. Clean-up activities consist of clearing branches and debris, and raking trails. Your physical ability will determine what tasks you should take part in. Bring gloves, pruning shears, loppers, leaf blower. Please do not bring your chainsaw. Saturday and Sunday, April 21 & 22, 2012- Earth Day Weekend!
The Sandown Conservation Commission (SCC) is sponsoring a town-wide roadside trash cleanup to celebrate Earth Day. Help keep Sandown clean. You can sign up at the library and be sure to identify which roads you will be picking up. Trash bags will be provided by the SCC. You can either leave the filled trash bags along the roadside for the Highway Department to pick up, or you can take them directly to the transfer station.
Friday, April 27, 2012- Vernal Pool Workshop
The Sandown Conservation Commission (SCC) will be leading a vernal pool workshop at the Fremont Road Town Forest on Friday, April 27 from 3-5pm. This workshop is great for kids and adults. If you like to hunt for salamanders, frogs and their egg masses, and your curious how these amphibians get their start in life, this is your opportunity. Please dress appropriately for the weather and for a walk in the woods. We will meet at the picnic tables located in the town forest parking lot, off Fremont Road. Saturday, April 28, 2012- Annual Fishing Derby
The Sandown Conservation Commission (SCC) is hosting the annual fishing derby at Sal’s Pond off Main Street. Registration will be held from 7 – 7:30am. The fishing derby will run from 7:30 to 10am. Prizes will be given to the biggest fish in the various age groups.
